About us

The CZS Heidelberg Initiative for Model-Based AI (MBAI) is set up at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR), Heidelberg University to link mathematical modelling methods with information processing in neuronal networks. The Carl Zeiss Foundation (CZS) is funding the project “Model-Based AI: Physical Models and Deep Learning for Imaging and Cancer Treatment” under the program “CZS Durchbrüche”. The aim of the project is to develop highly effective, energy-efficient, and privacy-compliant problem-solving processes for research and industry.

About the project

The CZS Breakthrough for Model-Based AI (MBAI) aims at combining modern machine learning methods with mathematical models to develop processes that can be applied in the highly relevant field of cancer research.

Groups

The interdisciplinary team consists of twelve principal investigators and one contributing scientist from the departments of computer science, mathematics, physics and medicine.
